Dr. Thomas Spray received his dental education at the University of Minnesota School of Dentistry, and he received his DDS degree in 2000. Dr. Spray’s route to dentistry followed a unique pathway. He graduated from a small college in Washington State called Evergreen State College in 1987 with a major in theatre arts, and he explored numerous artistic venues as a post-graduate. These included cartooning for a local newspaper, videography for a public access TV station, script-writing, visual arts and crafts, and music production.
Although these artistic pursuits were enjoyable, Dr. Spray longed to have a specialized skill that could exercise his artistic talents but also allow him to help others. Dentistry seemed like the perfect fit. There was one problem however; Dr. Spray had very minimal experience in Science and Math. So he had to start from scratch with the sciences, but he found to his surprise that he actually was good at it.
After three years of pre-dental college work at Portland Community College and Portland State University he was accepted to five dental schools, and gladly picked the University of Minnesota.
Dr. Spray presently lives in St Paul with his Wife Joanne and their seven children.
